My top 3 favourite DIY hair masks

hairmassk

Homemade hair masks are the bomb for your curls! They are a great help if you are struggling with dry and frizzy hair. Also you don’t need to buy a thirty dollar bottle of magic-potion when you have a dozen eggs in the fridge. And even better, you can decide by yourself what ingredients you are going to use to get these kinky curls poppin!

A DIY hair mask can be used as deep conditioning treatment but you can also apply it to your hair once a month to give it that extra boost. Here are three of my favourite home made hair masks that really work when my hair is battling against dryness.

1. Honey, Mayonnaise and Oil

This mask is enriched by proteins. It strengthens the hair follicles, prevents hair loss and breakage. It stimulates hair growth and it gives your hair a natural shine.

Recipe

  • 2-3 tablespoons mayo
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 table spoon of oil (any oil will do, so you can choose your favorite one)

2. Avocado, Banana, Olive Oil and Eggs

Avocado helps rejuvenating and moisturizing the scalp. It deeps conditions your locks and scalp. It also promotes the growth of healthier locks. Banana helps softening the hair and protects the hair’s natural elasticity preventing split ends and breakage. Eggs are rich in protein which again makes the hair follicle stronger. Olive oil seals in the moisture.

Recipe

  • 1/2 avocado smashed
  • 1/2 banana smashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil

3. Greek Yogurt & Honey
Greek yoghurt is great for your hair because it restores moisture and strengthens the hair all in one go. Also the enzymes in yoghurt are known to relieve an itchy scalp and combat dandruff. The honey will increase natural shine.

Recipe

You’ll need enough yoghurt to cover your hair and mix in 2-3 tablespoons of honey, that’s all! Once you have applied your DIY masks cover your hair in a plastic bag and wrap a towel around it. This way your curls will be able to really absorb these great ingredients. Leave it in for about 20-30 minutes and then rinse it out with luke warm water, otherwise you’ll will have pieces of egg in your hair ;-). Now wash your hair with shampoo and go show the world your healthy, shiny moisturized curls! Love
