My personal hair routine!

Ever since I got a haircut at a salon that lets say, doesn’t understand how you should cut curly hair, I hated my hair. I had no idea how to style and care for it. I kept straightening my hair. After I realized I was damaging my hair, how thin my hair had become I decided to stop and embrace my natural hair. I started experimenting with different techniques and products until I found what works best for my hair. Everyone’s hair is different so what works well for my coils doesn’t necessarily has to work well for your hair. In this article I’ll tell you my curly hair routine for achieving poppin’ curls with no frizz!

Step 1 – Showering

My hair routine starts in the shower. To cleanse my hair I use the loving blends honey shampoo without parabens. I massage the shampoo onto my scalp. I don’t apply the shampoo to the rest of my hair because it gets really frizzy if I do so. When my hair is cleansed completely I apply the loving blends honey conditioner (also without parabens). I let is sit for about 4-5 minutes, then I rinse it out with cold water. This makes sure your hair follicles close so you really lock in the moisture.

Step 2 – Styling

When I get out of the shower I always apply a leave in conditioner to my hair. Currently I am using the Shea Moisture strengthen, grow and restore leave-in conditioner. I really love this product because it moisturizes my hair so well. After that I apply the Shea Moisture coconut and hibiscus enhancing smoothie to define my curls. The smoothie really enhances my curls and tames the fizziness. To lock in the moisture I use the Shea Moisture anti breakage wave defining lotion. I make sure when I apply these products that my hair is soaking wet for even more moisture (moisture is a must when it comes to curly hair!).

Step 3 – Drying

When I have applied all the products to my hair I let my hair air dry. It takes about 3-4 hours (sooooooo long) before my hair is completely dry. I try not to touch it when it’s wet because that creates frizz. When my hair has dried completely I use a pig to create volume.

I can easily go for about 5-6 days without having to do this all over again. If you want to know how I maintain these poppin’ coils overnight you can read my last article ;-).
